Following a successful first edition in western Luxembourg in 2024, Boost Lokal Lëtzebuerg is continuing its citizen-focused initiative by moving to the eastern region this year. On 13 and 20 May 2025, two co-creation evenings brought together more than 30 citizens in Junglinster and Echternach, all driven by a common desire: to imagine and implement local solutions to the social and environmental challenges facing their region. And the initiative is bearing fruit: five new projects have been created around the themes of circular economy, regional consumption, third places and social innovation. Each group will now be supported for six months with training and coaching.
An approach rooted in local needs
Since the beginning of the year, the Boost Lokal team has visited several municipalities in the east of the country – Niederanven, Consdorf, Beaufort, Berdorf, Echternach and Junglinster – to listen to residents and identify their concerns.
These needs were then translated into concrete challenges, which served as the basis for the creative evenings.
In a warm and collaborative atmosphere, participants shared ideas, experiences and desires for action. Accompanied by facilitators trained in the Start-up de Territoire methodology, they worked hand in hand to develop projects with a strong local impact.
Five citizen projects to transform the region
At the end of these two evenings, five entrepreneurial projects with a social, ecological and collective dimension were selected to receive six months of support:
- Ôpen – Maison citoyenne: strengthening social ties at the heart of the community.
- Ecofluent: encouraging a zero-waste lifestyle and responsible consumption.
- Tiers-lieu à Echternach: creating a collective space for meeting, working and civic experimentation.
- Producteurs locaux: promoting regional agriculture and improving access to local products.
- Canopi: giving old furniture a new lease of life in line with the circular economy.
Tailored support from June to December 2025
The leaders of these initiatives will receive comprehensive support to structure and develop their projects, including:
- individual coaching
- group training
- meetings with inspiring entrepreneurs
- thematic workshops and open sessions at Ôpen in Junglinster
This programme aims to strengthen the capacities of the teams, promote synergies between local actors and lay the foundations for sustainable, inclusive and resilient local development.
A dynamic that remains open
The Boost Lokal programme will remain open until the end of June 2025 to citizens and collectives in the East region who create or strengthen a local initiative.
We would like to express our warmest thanks to everyone who has contributed to this new stage in Luxembourg’s citizen transition: the teams at Ôpen, the Echternach youth hostel, the facilitators and, of course, all the participants. Thanks to you, the eastern part of the country is now entering a promising new phase based on cooperation, commitment and collective creativity.
